A noble sculpture made of high-quality artificial marble with delicate 24-carat gold accents. It bears Antonio Canova's signature on the front and the maker's copyright on the back.
Canova's most famous work is considered one of the most graceful interpretations of the mythical love story of Cupid and Psyche. Cupid tenderly leans over the sleeping Psyche and, with a gentle flap of his wings, dispels the death-like sleep into which she had fallen due to the intrigue of the jealous Aphrodite. In a moment of complete devotion, Psyche raises her head and offers her lover her lips for a kiss. The deep love between the god and the mortal princess ultimately moved even the gods: Zeus granted Psyche immortality, so that their union could endure as a symbol of eternal love throughout all time.
