Collection: Waldemar Schröder
Waldemar Schröder, born in Krasnoturinsk, Russia, was already recognized for his sculptural talent during his childhood. He was barely 10 years old when he received his first award for a 20 cm high wood carving ("The Bear as a Double Bass Player") – Schröder won a school arts and crafts competition. It is therefore not surprising that his artistic career followed a remarkably straightforward path. After studying art in Alma Ata, he worked as a professor of drawing and sculpture at the Faculty of Art and Graphics in Moscow from 1973 to 1993, creating numerous nudes, animal sculptures, portraits, as well as commemorative plaques and coins.
It was his convincing artistic mastery that quickly established Schröder in the local art scene after his move to Germany.
