Collection: Kurtfritz Handel

Born in Râmnicu Vâcea, a Romanian-German, Handel had the opportunity to engage in sculpture as a high school student. He attended an art school in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania. After studying sculpture and art history at the State Academy of Arts in that city and graduating as a master student of Artur Vetros, he worked as an art teacher and freelance artist in Sibiu.

In 1985, he emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany. There, he worked as headmaster and lecturer at the Nürtingen Youth Art School. Handel's artistic oeuvre includes landscape and animal sculptures, portraits, figurative sculptures, and drawings. His work is strikingly distinguished by an impressive understanding of form, which, even in its largely abstract form, is still characterized by a profound sense of humor.
