Collection: Jamie Salmon

Jamie Salmon, born in Great Britain and living and working in Vancouver, Canada, learned his artistic craft in the film industry. For some time now, he has been causing a sensation with his elaborate portraits, which he creates over weeks, even months, using silicone, acrylic, pigments, and real hair. These are hyperrealistic sculptures, so accurate down to the smallest pore and individual beard hair that they practically seem to come to life. But Salmon knows that the real and the fantastic are ultimately just two sides of the same coin—and what we call reality, he likes to quote Einstein, is merely a particularly persistent illusion. Therefore, the ultimate goal of his work is not so much a perfect appearance; rather, he is concerned with the viewer's perception of their own perception.
