Sculpture "Ifi" by Pantaleo Musarò

Ifi is a character from Greek mythology. She was born female but raised as a boy by her mother to conceal her true gender, as a girl was undesirable to her father. Ifi always had to be cautious, fearing that someone would find out her secret, as if she had to walk on eggshells.

This ceramic figurine by Italian designer Pantaleo Musarò is part of a series of ceramic figurines that reflect various aspects of human nature. The series shows us how people try to hide their vulnerability by behaving in certain ways.

Ifi is hand-sculpted in Italy, with three eggs covered in 24-carat gold leaf.
