Ceramic bowl "Prato Casca" by Selma Calheira

Prato casca is a ceramic bowl made in Brazil by the Cores da Terra studio. Designed by Selma Calheira, the studio's founder, the bowl is crafted using a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese raku firing technique.

The charred color is achieved by firing the clay with sawdust in an oxygen-poor environment. The brown color develops during the cooling process after firing, when the clay is exposed to smoke from various wood species and leaves.

Prato casca testifies to Selma Calheira's mastery as a ceramicist and to the sustainable production methods used at Cores da Terra.
