Ceramic bowl "Fruteira Casca Natural" by Selma Calheira

Fruteira casca is a ceramic bowl made in Brazil by the Cores da Terra studio. Designed by Selma Calheira, the studio's founder, the bowl is crafted using a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese raku firing technique.

The charred color is achieved by firing the clay with sawdust in an oxygen-poor environment. The brown color develops during the cooling process after firing, when the clay is exposed to smoke from various wood species and leaves.
