Friedhelm Zilly hat bereits während seiner Schul- und Studienjahre gezeichnet, gemalt und modelliert. 1980 richtete er sich nahe Radolfzell sein Atelier ein. Gut 30 seiner Bronzeskulpturen und Brunnenanlagen stehen heute im öffentlichen Raum, vornehmlich in Süddeutschland, aber auch in Frankreich, Österreich und Irland.
