The "Trooper of the Plains" depicts a cavalryman riding across the vast plains of America with a revolver at the ready. The small patch of brush at the horse's hooves underscores this scenic depiction and simultaneously lends the sculpture a sense of weightlessness.
This work, originally created in 1909, is further evidence of Remington's daring artistic representations. The figure appears to defy gravity due to its almost nonexistent connection to the ground. At the same time, it is also a typical depiction of an American Wild West figure, rendered in great detail.
This bronze sculpture is a plaqued and signed Unique piece . It is on a veined marble base attached.
