Bronze sculpture "The Age of Bronze" after Auguste Rodin

This male nude by Auguste Rodin was the first life-size figure that Rodin ever presented to the public.

On the one hand, the sculpture concealed a wounded warrior resting on an (imaginary) spear, his right hand resting on a wound on his head. On the other hand, Rodin, inspired by the theories of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, attempted to depict the awakening of humanity. Neither motif predominates, leaving the final interpretation to the viewer. The sculpture also had alternative German titles such as "Man Awakening in Nature" or "Man of the First Times."
