Collection: Kurt Grabert

Kurt Grabert's artistic training began at a young age (he attended the Higher Technical College for the Graphic Arts), but was interrupted for more than six years by war and imprisonment. Only after the war was he finally able to begin his sculpture studies at the Stuttgart Academy.

The artist utilized his dual talent as a graphic artist and sculptor throughout his life; for many years he worked as a graphic designer for industrial companies and newspapers, but at the same time he also created sculptural works in his studio in Hördingen near Überlingen, and then in Göppingen since 1975. In the two decades before his death, Grabert continued to produce significant graphic works, but concentrated primarily on sculpture, with bronze proving to be his ideal material.
